Conducting a one-on-one coaching session

How Coaches can start the coaching session and use the GROW or Conversational models to guide the discussion.

You’ve either scheduled your session, or sent the invite and your Coachee has detailed their action plan using the GROW model. Now it’s time to hear your Coachee’s perspective and provide guidance towards their achievement.

After your Coachee accepts your invite, or if you’ve chosen the Conversational model, the status will change to 'Scheduled' in the 'Sessions' section. Read more about statuses here

Both Coach and Coachee will meet at the scheduled time, either online or on-site, depending on your selection when creating a session.

Using the GROW Model

The Coachee kicks off the session by clicking 'Start coaching session' as you bring them through the areas for improvement.

1. Discuss their action plans based on the GROW model.

2. After the session starts, your Coachee will see the same GROW model but with an additional field of 'Skill to improve'.

3. Your Coachee will select a skill for improvement, from the drop-down list, relevant to their coaching subject.

4. After adding the skill for improvement, your Coachee will then be able to proceed to the summary and end the one-on-one session.

Using the Conversational Model

1. As your Coachee’s chosen skill for improvement should have been selected prior to your session, your Session will entail an open discussion about your Coachee’s progress.

2. This is guided by seven questions listed in the Conversational Model to encourage a more productive conversation between you and your Coachee.

3. All seven questions will be required to be filled up based on your Session and your Coachee’s answers.

4. Once that is completed, you will be able to end the Session, and the Summary will be visible to your Coachee.
